Visioneering – Shape Your New Year with a Clear Mental Movie
Right now, we’re standing at the beginning of a brand-new year. Think of it as the perfect blank canvas for whatever you want to paint. Whether you want to grow a business, focus on health, strengthen relationships, or embark on a spiritual path—this is your prime moment to decide what you truly want to see in the coming months.
For me, that vision is opening my own retreat center on a lush 5-acre ranch in Malibu. I can practically smell the fresh pine at the entrance gate, feel the cool morning breeze, and see the sign that reads “Infinite Ranch.” Every time my focus drifts, I “press play” on that mental movie, and I’m pulled right back to what matters most.
“What does it mean?”
Many people drift through life on autopilot, living someone else’s script. They miss the chance to actively observe and shape their own path—especially during this crucial time when a new year is unfolding. Peggy Liu (Episode 191 of the Noble Warrior podcast) calls it “Crafting Your Sentimental Memory of the Future.” In other words, you can create a powerful mental snapshot—or “movie”—of exactly what you want this year to look like. Then, you let your mind and heart fill in the details to make it real.
We may think vision is intangible, but it’s far from it. A strong vision becomes the foundation for daily habits, big decisions, and even the people and opportunities you invite into your life. Whether your dream is a retreat center, a new product launch, or a year of focused self-improvement, clarity is what bridges the gap between dreaming and doing.
“How does it also apply to you?”
Look around—people are stimulus-rich (there’s stuff everywhere grabbing our attention) but context-poor (we have trouble seeing how all these inputs connect to our deeper dreams).
Like Kfir of Habitas (Episode 175), you can use vision to bring your values to life in a tangible, immersive way. Or, as Brian Johnson (Episode 174) puts it, you can harness “soul force” when your vision aligns with your core ideals.
So how does this new-year visioning affect you? Whether your goal is to get fit, start a passion project, or scale your business, the process is the same:
Clarity: Clearly see what you want.
Emotion: Feel it as if you’re already there.
Action: Let that vision guide your steps.
If you can clearly see it, you can start building it—one step at a time.
Kfir (Episode 175) from Habitas calls this “emotional luxury”—where every detail of your environment, your routine, and even the relationships you foster align with your deeper values. The point is, you can design this year to resonate with who you are and what you want to accomplish, if you’re willing to be intentional about your vision.
